The ruby mountain trail is located in the ross lake national recreation area which means that it is one of the few trails in this area of the north cascades that can be hiked with a dog.
The last ten minutes of this hike is on the ruby crest trail.

The lamoille canyon trailhead is the most popular location to start a day or overnight hike.
This is one of the few trails on the south side of the ruby mountains.

Please note that in order to access the trailhead you must obtain a key from the spring creek association.

The trail is primarily used for hiking and bird watching and is best used from july until august.
